What Is Conversion Charges?
Conversion charges are the fees payable to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) or the Revenue Department for changing the land classification of a property from one category to another, typically from agricultural to residential or commercial use. Under the Delhi Land Reforms Act 1954 and the Delhi Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act 1976, conversion of land use requires prior approval and payment of prescribed conversion fees calculated based on the land area, existing classification, and the proposed new use. The conversion process involves filing an application with the concerned Revenue Authority, obtaining a Conversion Order, and paying the applicable charges, which vary significantly depending on the locality and the nature of the proposed conversion.
